A man of honour, greatly impugned

As for Mr Schmitt, he will now start work on a new degree, he says. Perhaps he could write about political pressure on Hungarian state television.

The Economist

„Most analysts thought it was all over for Mr Schmitt. But then Viktor Orbán, the Hungarian prime minister and a party ally of Mr Schmitt's, stepped in. Asked if Mr Schmitt should resign, Mr Orbán replied that it was for him to decide. So he did.

Just like Ferenc Gyurcsány, the Socialist prime minister who in 2006 triggered days of unrest when he was caught admitting that his government had been lying »morning, noon and night«, Mr Schmitt said he was staying put. Luckily for the beleaguered president, state television was on hand to offer a sympathetic ear. Péter Oversovszky's interview with Mr Schmitt, broadcast on MTV1, was the sort of cringe-making encounter rarely seen in central Europe nowadays. (...)

As for Mr Schmitt, he will now start work on a new degree, he says. Perhaps he could write about political pressure on Hungarian state television.”

Mielőtt a cenzorok kiszednék... "Dear Adam LeBor, the author of this article, I have a few questions for you, since it is April 1st, April's fool's day, my questions will be modified accordingly, so here goes: Is it true, that you hold dual citizenship? Is it true that you regularly visited Tel-Aviv since you were a teenager? Is it true that very often you view things from a Jewish standpoint exemplified by your article "Is Barack Obama good for the Jews"? Don't you think that other viewpoints could be equally valid? Is it true that you are a contributor for Jewcy the "Jewish Hipster movement's portal"? Is it true that you have a profile there? Is it true that when your own president, Moshev Katsav turned out to be a rapist, you didn't call for his resignation? Is it true that you and your paper, the Economist did not even report, when Katsav the rapist was convicted by an Israeli court (and what a brave court)? Is it true that you didn't even report when he started serving his seven year prison term for rape? Is it true that you didn't even report when he resigned in disgrace in a plea deal in which Israeli authorities were willing to overlook the small issue of rape in order to protect the presidency? (Katsav later foolishly rejected this generous offer, thinking that the Israeli courts will exonerate him anyway to protect the prestige of the presidency- Only this allowed his conviction for rape) Do you think it is OK for the authorities to overlook rape in order to protect presidential prestige? Do you think rape is a minor offence for which there should be no resignation? Did you know that the Israeli president (the rapist) only resigned fifteen days before his term was about the end and only due to the aforementioned plea deal with lenient Israeli authorities? Can you answer which is worse? Raping women, and sexually harassing the ones who weren't raped (Israeli president for 7 years, Moshe Katsav), or writing a defective theses twenty years ago, containing translations, while citing all sources for them in the bibliography. recommended reading, about the rapist president, currently serving time in prison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moshe_Katsav warning to the comments moderator: If you remove my comment again without explanation, I will repost it to many different websites, where Adam LeBor's name is mentioned. I am also awaiting the response, from Adam LeBor."

Nem-e ez az egész Schmitt-ügy egy zsidó összeesküvés? Ha már a Le Bor is pennát ragad......
